Australian Association of Pakistani Professionals (AAPP) Leads Council Annual Meeting-21st Nov'20 

The Australian Association of Pakistani Professionals (AAPP) invited Dr Amir Burney, President and Mr Irfan Akhtar, General Secretary of APPNE to their Leads Council Annual meeting held on 21st November 2020 at Hyatt Place, Essendon Place, Melbourne, Australia. 
 
The main focus of APPNE President’s address was on strengthening international collaborations by Pakistani Diaspora organisations in the field of medicine and allied healthcare. AAPP leads included professionals be-longing to various professions including medical, nursing and allied healthcare, legal and information technology. APPNE, AAPP and APPNA MERIT have signed an MOU agreeing to work collaboratively in the field of Family Medicine in Pakistan

 Award of Honorary Fellowship to Mr Amir-ul-Haq Khan by The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Islamabad, Pakistan 4th December 2019 

The Council of The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan awarded an Honorary Fellowship to Mr Amir-ul-Haq Khan Consultant General Surgeon an Honorary Fellowship of the College. The Fellowship was awarded in recognition of his professional achievements, academic successes and contributions of excellence in the field of surgery. 
APPNE is proud to have one of our very own to be recognised and honoured by The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. On behalf of APPNE , we would like to congratulate Mr Khan for this wonderful honour. 

  Attendance at Inaugural event of the Irish Pakistani Professionals Association (IPPA) 23rd March 2019 

APPNE was officially invited by the Irish Pakistani Professionals Association to Dublin, Ireland at IPPA’s inaugural event held on 23rd March 2019. APPNE was represented by APPNE President Mr. Amir Burney, Social Secretary Dr. Hisham Haq and Executive Member Dr. Afzal Sawal. At a meeting with the President and General Secretary of IPPA , it was agreed in principle that IPPA and APPNE will work collaboratively including the Irish Doctors diaspora, Irish Pakistani medical graduates and medical students studying in Ireland. An MOU between APPNE and IPPA was agreed to be the next step forward. Mr. Khalid Khan and Mr. Haroon Khan (IPPA Official Representatives) were interested in leading the Irish chapter of APPNE and help with the membership drive in Republic of Ireland. 
APPNE would like to extend it gratitude to IPPA for their hospitality. 

  Meeting with High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom 15th March 2019  

His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mohammed Nafees Zakaria called upon a meeting with the APPNE officials on Friday 15th March 2019. The meeting was facilitated by Prof Shahed Quraishi OBE and attended by the APPNE team comprising of Dr Amir Burney (President APPNE), Mr Mehboob Mirza (Joint Secretary APPNE), Mr Naseem Warriach, Ms Sadaf Jafferbhoy, Dr Iram Khan (Executive Members) and Mr Umar Daraz Khan (Trustee). During a very candid meeting extending over two hours, matters of mutual interest were discussed in detail. Dr Amir Burney apprised the High Commissioner about the inception and aims of APPNE. 
 
Mr Zakaria was very interested to know that the association is based on principles of democracy, transparency and fair representation. He was appreciative of the independent electoral process that the association has taken for its first election. The High Commissioner stressed the need for upholding the image of Pakistan and the Pakistani diaspora in United Kingdom. To help promote interest in professional careers amongst the young British Pakistani cohort, it was agreed that APPNE would organise career fairs raising awareness about higher education attainment. APPNE has agreed to be fully engaged in such programs and work in conjunction with the Pakistan High Commission in UK and Pakistan. At this occasion, a dossier about APPNE was presented to the High Commissioner. 
APPNE expresses its gratitude to the High Commissioner for his valuable time and continued support towards the medical fraternity and betterment of the British Pakistani community. 

 Meeting With European Urological Society - Barcelona, Spain 15th to 19th March 2019 

At the Joint session of United Kingdom and Pakistan urology group held during the European Association of Urology in Barcelona, Mr Shabi Ahmad showcased the Association of Pakistani Physicians in Northern Europe (APPNE). There is an interest from the Pakistan Association of Urology (PAUS) to work collaboratively to promote education and training for urology residents in form of fellowships as well as for United Kingdom based clinicians to promote hands on training and CME sessions in Pakistan. It was agreed in principle that a formal MOU would be signed between APPNE & PAUS in the near future
